Business worries could bring focus on climate
A blind trust may be the only way to eliminate the natural bias anyone might have to bend policy to benefit one’s businesses. That is why the blind trust was created. Not doing so, assuming you can be objective if your political decisions effect your children’s wealth, is going beyond optimism. There are thousands of ways a subtle (or not so subtle) quid pro quo will tempt Donald Trump.
On the other hand, if Trump sees his golf courses and hotels reel under the effects of rising seas, stronger storms and fires, perhaps that would get his attention. He might be even tempted to sign powerful solutions, such as revenue neutral carbon fee bills waiting in Congress, for example. Perhaps only then would Trump’s desire for personal gain work in our favor.
Don’t hold your breath, though. We, the silly sheep voter, invited the wolf to dine.
